Benjamin Rumble, an iPhone user, who found an unencrypted HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) stream URL for the Beats 1 Radio service and launched a page(http://irumble.com/beats1/) on his site with the embedded stream URL which can be accessed by anyone on an Android device. One day (before launching iTunes 12.2), He wanted to stream music and listen. But, his phone’s battery was low. He decided to listen to music on the desktop, but there was no way to listen to music radio without iOS. He saw that Timo Hetzel actually found the encrypted, unusable stream URL, and then he tested changing the URL from “/hub02/session02/” to “/hub01/session01/.” Once he found the unencrypted stream, he just added it to an HTML5 <audio> tag.
He also posted “I’m a big fan of radio, especially Radio 1, so was very excited to tune into Beats 1’s first day,” he says. “Really it’s a fan thing.”
