When creating an iMovie using multiple photos or video clips, creating a transition between them makes the iMovie more smooth and free flowing. To add these transitions, follow these instructions:

Step 1 of 2

  • Open your iMove project
    • If it is a single video with no splits, create one.
  • Once there is a split, touch the transition icon located between the clips
  • Transition options will be listed below
  • Select the transition you wish to put in that location
  • Repeat for any other transitions in your iMovie

Step 2 of 2

A few of the transition options offer multiple choices. For instance, tapping on Slide you see four dots below the Slide icon. Tapping the Slide icon gives you the option of the transition sliding left to right, top to bottom, right to left, or bottom to top. Select the transition and then tap again to select the direction you want the transition to go.
