Got a photograph with unsightly red eye you need to fix? Or want to edit out that stranger passing behind the frame from your Times Square jaunt? Rejoice--Photoshop has just released Fix, an app that puts many of the most common image editing functions right into a handy, free mobile app.
Build upon the Photoshop engine, it brings popular editing tools such as the healing for getting rid of those blemishes on portraits, liquefy to squeeze those waistlines, along with the regular must-haves including adjusting exposure and cropping photos. It’s also got a skin smoothening effect to get rid of that oily shine from the photo after that long hike, along with the ability to lighten and darken specific parts of a photo.
Beyond image touch ups you also get a slew of photo effects: you can desaturate your mobile shots for creating moody black and white effects or even create a mix of colored and monochrome areas in the same photo. There’s also a Paint tool that uses the popular eyedropper to sample precise areas of your photo for detailed coloring work, the ability to blur specific parts of your photo for emphasizing key subjects, and adding subtle vignettes that let you stake your claim as a bona fide creative artist.
The app is only available for iOS devices right now, although an Android version is promised soon. Also being part of the Photoshop family, the edits you make to your photos using this app are synchronized via the Adobe Creative Cloud platform so they can be accessed from other devices running Creative Cloud as well.
The best part? The app is free. You will however need to sign up for an Adobe ID to be able to use these features. But that’s free too.
